Thunderbird (thunderbird 17.0+build2-0ubuntu0.12.10.1) under xubuntu
12.10 still pulls in thunderbird-globalmenu (thunderbird-globalmenu
17.0+build2-0ubuntu0.12.10.1) as a dependency.
The package thunderbird-globalmenu provides a Thunderbird Extension
which adds support to Thunderbird for the Unity appmenu. However,
Xubuntu does not include Unity. So this thunderbird dependency pulls in
useless garbage without any functionality.
This is not only a matter of package size but also a core design
principle: Linux packages should only be included as dependencies when
they provide essential or indispensable functionality.
This dependency should therefore be removed from the thunderbird
package.
