[Bug 913356] Re: Crashes X server when showing Firefox bookmarks menu

Adam Porter 913356 at bugs.launchpad.net
Sun Jan 8 07:29:49 UTC 2012

** Description changed:

I use KDE 4.7.4 with the global menu Plasma applet.

I was using Firefox. I opened the global menu. I hovered over the
Bookmarks menu. After a moment, instead of displaying the menu, X
crashed, taking everything with it, returning me to the KDM login
  screen.

+ This is really bad. All I have to do is accidentally hover over the
+ bookmarks menu and X instantly crashes, taking my entire X session down
+ with it. This is a major data-loss bug.

+
+ Perhaps it is caused by the size of the bookmarks menu. Although I
+ don't really use it anymore, since I use tags and the "awesome bar"
+ instead, it has 1,986 items in it at the moment--sometimes the default
+ in Firefox sticks new bookmarks in there without asking. (On my other
+ system I moved all the items out of the menu into Unsorted, but good ol'
+ Firefox Sync doesn't move bookmarks when you move them.) As a
+ workaround I will try moving all the items out of there--but this still
+ should not crash X and everything else.
