We don't have any tests right now that make sure that  this code works
properly afaik, or for that matter any of our  platform code works.

Is there even a gnome session to speak of?

I believe the current state to be that accessibility is only on for a11y tests where it is turned on through xpcom instead of using platform mechanisms

yeah, I'd expect we'd spend a bit of time blocking though that's a
guess.
