It also happend to me with this console messages:
(thunderbird-bin:6702): GLib-GObject-WARNING **: cannot register existing type `DbusmenuMenuitem'
(thunderbird-bin:6702): GLib-CRITICAL **: g_once_init_leave: assertion `result != 0' failed
(thunderbird-bin:6702): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_param_spec_object: assertion `g_type_is_a (object_type, G_TYPE_OBJECT)' failed
(thunderbird-bin:6702): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_class_install_property: assertion `G_IS_PARAM_SPEC (pspec)' failed

I use Ubuntu 12.04 and Thunderbird 11.0.1 whit extensions:
 - Diccionario de Español/España 1.5
 - United States English Spellchecker 5.0.1

And also, dissabling Messagin Menu and Unity Launcher integration 0.8
solve this problem.
