I am using 11.04 and i have the same problem:

On my 32-bit desktop machine with an amd processor Chromium or Firefox
cannot play Flash-Content with the latest flashplayer from adobe (adobe-
flashplugin-11.2.202.228-0natty1)

On my 32-bit Laptop, with the same nvidia card(nv34), but an intel
processor, everything works fine.

I have reinstalled my desktop machine and the flashplayer worked until i
installed the available updates.

I have replaced the libflashplayer.so with an older version from the
adobe website and the flashplayer works now fine in chromium and
firefox.

Chromium	17.0.963.79 (Ubuntu 11.04)
Flash plugin	11.1 r102 /usr/lib/adobe-flashplugin/libflashplayer.so

I tried to debug the problem and started both browsers from the command-
line, but there is no output. The current adobe-flashplugin crashes
silently and there is no way to turn off hw acceleration or anything
else, because flash just crashes.
