from 2004-06-18 to 2011-05-26 .... 7 years and this bug is still here!!!

which of the following is the cause:
1) Can't decide whose fault it is (mozilla's or the rest of the world) according to an RFC meant for something unrelated (webservers)
2) Can't find anyone who can fix it
3) Can't find anyone who can AND wants to fix it

what a shame
