Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: thunderbird

I installed this package yesterday night via the software centre. I must
have hit the install button twice, because sc attempted to install two
instances of thunderbird at the same time. Then it crashed. When I got
it back, thunderbird came up as installed, yet when I tried to start it,
this morning, via the "applications" launcher, zilch. Nothing. Starting
from the terminal returned: "bash: /usr/bin/thunderbird: cannot execute
binary file". I then tried to re-install via synaptic, which failed, but
generated this bug report. I have now completely removed thunderbird, or
attempted to: when I did this synaptic reported that two folders were
"not empty" and would not be removed. I am still interested in having
this package, any advice on how it might be successfully installed will
e gratefully received. I hope these witterings are helpful to someone.
