Public bug reported:

Thunderbird was working fine the prior day, but today after waking up
the computer it resumes showing an empty account window. All e-mail is
missing and restarting the application does not recover it. I verified
the application did close and wasn't just spinning in the background.
The only means I have found to recover this is to replace the
$HOME/.thunderbird directory with one from a working system.
