Public bug reported:
Ahead of the proposed move from Evolution to Thunderbird as default mail client for Oneiric, I've tried it out for myself for a week.
I like that it is much faster and allows one to remove/hide unnecessary features like calendars and printing. (the tab bar can't be removed though it seems).
One (imho) essential feature that Thunderbird is missing though is the
ability to run incoming mail through an external filter. There is an
option to heed SpamAssassin headers, but no option (and no plugin either
that I could find) to get those SA headers from any source other than
the mail server. Thunderbird has its own spam filtering built in, but it
is simply not as good as the real thing.
** Affects: thunderbird (Ubuntu)
Importance: Undecided
Status: New
