Public bug reported:

It appears that a 32-bit plug-in is being installed on a 64-bit system.

On Xubuntu for amd64, firefox, emits many warnings:

$ firefox
Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module"
Gtk-Message: Failed to load module "canberra-gtk-module"
(npviewer.bin:1730): Gtk-WARNING **: /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/engines/libmurrine.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
(npviewer.bin:1730): Gtk-WARNING **: Unable to locate theme engine in module_path: "pixmap",
(npviewer.bin:1730): Gtk-WARNING **: /usr/lib/gtk-2.0/2.10.0/engines/libmurrine.so: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS64
-snip-

ps shows that /usr/lib/nspluginwrapper/i386/linux/npviewer.bin is
running. This file contains a 32-bit executable and comes from package
nspluginviewer:i386  .   Presumably a 64-bit version should have been
supplied with this system.
