There is absolutely no need to add those symlinks on a default install,
so I'm not sure what you are doing (or trying to do). Why are you
running firefox-bin directly? That will never work on the default
install because you bypass the startup scripts which correctly configure
the environment.

Closing as not a bug, this is user error.
