Thank you for reporting this to Ubuntu.  Unfortunately, it looks like google-chrome-beta has removed the Firefox alternative which caused this error:
Setting up google-chrome-beta (7.0.517.36-r61761) ...
update-alternatives: warning: alternative /usr/bin/firefox (part of link group x-www-browser) doesn't exist. Removing from list of alternatives.
update-alternatives: warning: alternative /usr/bin/firefox (part of link group gnome-www-browser) doesn't exist. Removing from list of alternatives.

I would suggest reporting this to Google.  Please report any other
issues you may find.
