Well, I ran
sudo force_start=1 /etc/init.d/apport start
as requested, tried to go to jigzone, and got the same results as before
-- Firefox closed.
However, there is no file in /var/crash.
I didn't know about apport so I Googled it and found this page:
That's the only reason I knew to look in /var/crash. Also, no dialog box
showed up. All that happened is that Firefox immediately disappeared
from the screen -- the open window and the buttons on the task bar.
Restarting Firefox allowed me to restore the session to the point before
attempting to connect to jigzone.
Connecting to Jigzone.com causes Firefox to close.
