ok,

Ran safe mode....no start,

opended system monitor

a)firefox-bin   sleeping     pid11026    poll_schedule_timeout
b)firefox-bin   sleeping        3709     hrtimer_nanosleep
c)firefox       sleeping                  do_wait
d)firefox       sleeping                  do_wait

killed all four processes.....

re ran ff safemode...no help....no gui  b & c above running
