Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

Hi,

I'm upgrading an up-to-date Hardy chroot, with firefox 3.0 installed:
apt-cache policy firefox-3.0
firefox-3.0:
  Installed: 3.0.17+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.1
  Candidate: 3.0.17+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.1
  Version table:
 *** 3.0.17+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.1 0
        100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

when upgrading to Lucid, I'm getting an error when installing firefox-branding, because of firefox.desktop file:
...
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/firefox-branding_3.6+nobinonly-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb (--unpack):
trying to overwrite '/usr/share/applications/firefox.desktop', which is also in package firefox-3.0 0:3.0.17+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.1
dpkg-deb: subprocess paste killed by signal (Broken pipe)
Errors were encountered while processing:
 /var/cache/apt/archives/firefox-branding_3.6+nobinonly-0ubuntu1_amd64.deb
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

This is because firefox-branding should Conflicts/Replaces Firefox-3.0.

Fabrice
