[Bug 621883] More Info about my system

I forgot to give you information about my system:

system now: Linux Mint 9 Isadora

Desktop: Gnome Desktop 2.30.2 (2010-06-25)

architecture: x86_64


To come back to the problem:

I did the steps according to the link:

uninstalling of the previous version 3.0.6 via Synaptic

Then I first imported the ky via Terminal with the command sudo apt-key  
adv --recv-keys --keyserver keyserver.ubuntu.com 247510BE

Afterwards, I edited the sources.list with the two given lines and saved  
these changes. Then I closed the sources.list and went back into the  
Terminal.
There I put in these commands one after the other:
sudo apt-get update and sudo apt-get dist-upgrade and let it run through  
completely.

For installing thunderbird, I then entered this command: sudo apt-get  
install thunderbird.

The Installation proceeded without any warnings or even error-messages.  
After the install, I closed the terminal and went to the Menu to start  
Thunderbird.

But I only got the enclosed white screen on my desktop.

Now I don't know, what I did wrong, that thunderbird 3.1 does not work in  
Linux Mint 9 Isadora.

Please can anybody tell me my mistake??
