Same bug here:

Ubuntu 9.10 Desktop 32-bit
Firefox 3.6.3 from http://ppa.launchpad.net/mozillateam/firefox-stable/ubuntu/
Compiz and nvidia-190 enabled

Only workaround working for me: minimize then maximize Firefox window
(thanks to BlackSir for comment #35).
