I'm testing with the same hardware except my ATI GPU. I change to nvidia
GPU.

There is now no problem with compiz and proprietary nvidia driver.

So I think it's the driver of ati GPU:

apt-cache policy xserver-xorg-video-ati
xserver-xorg-video-ati:
  Installed: 1:6.13.0-1ubuntu5
