I have the exact same problem. Though I can easily reproduce the problem
(the problem seems to not depend on which website you are viewing, as it
has appeared on launchpad and the ubuntu wiki sometimes, but not others)
when I hit the screenshot key, the the problem goes away.

Running Firefox 3.0.14, on Ubuntu 9.04, amd64, on kernel
2.6.28-16-generic with ATI fglrx drivers.
