I can confirm this. This happens with most of themes (except clearlooks)
and it is not so obvious because applications background color is
usually very similar to text imput widget (light grey - white) . It
becomes more visible if you set darker application background color. On
the other hand, this is only the case with applications that are not
original gtk applications like firefox and openoffice.
