I also had a problem with the admin account password.  I was able to
reset and regain access to the admin account.  However, without these
icons, text and dropdown menus, I cannot do things like set time through
firefox by accessing the dsl modem to change settings (192.168.0.1)
etc.,.  This started on 10/25/2009.  See ticket #86717 already posted on
user forum.  So far, no assistance has been provided.

I also have been having a problem with getting avast! 4.8 linux home
edition to update on the first try for some time now.  Sometimes I must
restart the system with the avast! gui running on reboot and  avast will
tell me the "stale lockfile" has been deleted, and then I can update
avast!
