This is because the version that's marked 'Linux' on the mozilla-plugin
website is actually the Windows version.  Download it from https
://mozilla-
plugin.forge.funambol.org/servlets/ProjectDocumentList?folderID=128&expandFolder=128&folderID=0
instead and it will install.
