Seems to be a recurring problem with update-alternatives in prerm, so I
marked this as dupe of dpkg's bug #344019.

Still unclear exactly what caused this bug; perhaps different versions
of flashplugin-installer set up alternatives for different variants. At
the very least, it shouldn't fail to uninstall the package. Note from
the terminal log that this affects the gnash plugin too.

I think removing an alternative should never cause a package removal to
fail, only perhaps log it it somewhere, so update-alternatives --remove
should never fail. But there remains a small bit of blame for this
package for not ignoring failures until that policy is firmly
established. And having two nearly-identical copies of nearly the same
code smells bad. But I'm not sure how best to reflect that fact in the
bugtracker, so feel free to remove the dupe mark.
