Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

Hello,

with the fonts that are currently used by default in Firefox to render websites (I guess DejaVu), the layout on some sites is a bit distorted, you can see this in the screenshots below (taken on a fresh Jaunty installation).
The cause for this seems to be that these fonts are a bit bigger than the default Microsoft fonts (Arial, Times New Roman, ...), on whose size some web layouter obviously rely.
A possible workaround would be to use the Liberation Fonts for Firefox which are metric compatible with the Microsoft ones:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Liberation_fonts

I am doing this on my machine for some time now by selecting them manually in "Edit -> Preferences -> Content -> Fonts & Colors -> Extended...", they look very good.
The Liberations Fonts package seems to be in Main now (ttf-liberation).

Kind regards,
Jan
