[Bug 340019] [NEW] Firefox configuration error on x forward

Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox

Background:

I use firefox through x forward (ssh -X -C -c blowfish remote.machine
firefox). This worked well in Hardy. The client machine is a PPC
OpenSuse 11.1 box.

What's expected to happen:

Firefox starts and runs reasonably quickly as it did using Hardy.

What actually happens:

After upgrading to intrepid I get the error "An error occurred while
loading or saving configuration information for firefox Some of your
configuration settings may not work properly."

The error box appears before each window (the profile window, the
extension update window, and firefox browser window itself). The box has
a details button which does not respond. The error box itself looks
frozen. Firefox will eventually start and be exceptionally slow (it was
quick before the intrepid upgrade).

** Affects: firefox (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
