Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: thunderbird

Thunderbird has been sending mail fine through Gmail for at least 2
years. About 10 days ago it stopped working and comes up with a failure
message almost instantly the send button is pressed (see attachment). I
have tried re-entering the settings and also tried to use my ISP email
as the SMPT server, all fails. I have checked Gmail and there appears to
be no problems at their end.

1) 8.04
2) Thunderbird 2.0.0.19
