I would suggest reinstalling the software from URrelay.  It seems like
they linked the software to the Intrepid version of Java and not to the
generic link to the Java install.  Let us know if that works.
As for learning Linux, ask questions.  We have an Answer Tracker here on
Launchpad that you can post questions to:

You can read previous posts and learn from them as well.  There's also
help.ubuntu.com which is the community documentation as well as the
actual documentation that comes with Ubuntu.  You just select Help in
the Applications menu and you will get to that.
