Same thing happens to me in Firefox 3.5.1. Konqueror is unaffected and
full screens YouTube videos without freezing.

Ubuntu 9.04 / KDE 4.2.2
Linux 2.6.28-13-generic #45-Ubuntu SMP Tue Jun 30 22:12:12 UTC 2009 x86_64 GNU/Linux
GeForce 7300 GT with nvidia-glx-180 driver

As a temporary solution: Right click on the video and go to Settings...
then uncheck Enable hardware acceleration.
