Hello John. I answered my own question by installing ubufox. No
difference with or without.

Just a thought here. There is a slight possibility that my daughter
changed the mouse settings. Is there a way to reset default settings for
it? I did go ahead and mess with the prefs myself to see if it had any
effect. It didn't.

At least I am not as worried now that other Ubuntu users are having
problems with my menu. Thanks again for checking that for me. I
appreciate that :)
