Please provide the output of the following command on a terminal for some useful printing related debugging information:
apport-collect -p cups 392743

Could you also provide a cups error log with LogLevel=debug after trying
to print grayscale in firefox as described here:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems#cupserrorlog
