I can confirm this as well on ubuntu, 8.10 with the latest kernel available (2.6.27-9-generic), running on a Toshiba Satellite A100-097 (with Phoenix BIOS).
This laptop is powered by a dual core CPU (Core 2 Duo T7200) and the load is shared by the cores cyclically.
