without seeing any backtrace its hard to guess, but it sounds like a X
graphics driver issue. If you run nvidia/fglrx try the free alternatives
nv/ati.

Also if there is a crash it should produce a .crash file for firefox in
/var/crash/ ... submit that by double clicking on it in nautilus. and
post the bug id for that crash report here. Thanks!
