I'm having the exact same problem as the original poster.  Firefox
3.5.6, Win XP Home SP3 on a custom Intel Core 2 Duo E8500, all updates
current.

However, the bug does NOT occur on an Acer Aspire One netbook, same OS,
same LAN, but Firefox 3.5.5.
