Same here.
Kubuntu 9.10, 32bit (2.6.31-16-generic)
Firefox 3.5.5
Flash plugin 10.0 r42

I noticed the analogous situation in Google Chrome (4.0.266.0, same flash version):
the flash plugin process consumes 100% CPU and the pages using flash are unresponsive ('reload' button works, though). When flash process is killed, the browser returns to normal work and displays info that flash plugin failed.
