Further to the last try ... the 64 bit version _does_ fix it, but you
have to make sure that all previous versions of flash player are
removed.

I'm assuming that although i downloaded the flash-player for x64, and
rm'd the libflashplayer.so files that the nswrapper-plugin was still
trying to control the flash delivery.

Running the original script that removed the nswrapper-plugin fixed the
problem for me, but of course removed adobe-reader, which i used ...
adding adobe-reader back on reinstalled the nswrapper-plugin script, but
the problem did not reappear.

My kids are happy that they can now access the BBC properly.
