Firefox has this option also:
Edit/Preferences/Privacy
Select "Use custom settings for history"
Select "ask me every time" in the "Keep until" setting.
** Visibility changed to: Public
** Changed in: firefox-3.0 (Ubuntu)
Status: New => Invalid
