Firefox information:

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-GB; rv:1.9.0.12)
Gecko/2009070818 Ubuntu/8.10 (intrepid)
Firefox/3.0.12

Recently allowed Ubuntu 8.10 to run updates which included a number of
updates for Firefox, following this a large number of websites are
displaying graphics only, the text appears to be white.

Examples:
www.bbc.co.uk
ubuntuforums.org

I have not changed the default settings in Firefox since installing
Ubuntu this year. Defaults are black text on white background.

Again, switching to no-style allows basic websites to be used, but
anything more complex is unusable.
