[Bug 407613] [NEW] Terminal difficulties cant type password

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

everyone has been saying go to terminal type this type that but when i
try to do type a command it will then ask me for a password and  i try
typing the password and it doesnt do anything. it doesn't show that im
writing or anything all i can type is enter and itll ask me for password
again

please help im new to this i been trying to understand this for a while
jus not workng out... im not sure if this is a bug or  a stupid mistake
that i cant understand this... help is GREATLY appreciated
