*** Close this bug ? ***
It appears Firefox has healed itself. The blank error console window (?) described in the bug description no longer occurs.
The problem cleared when the system was restarted a few minutes ago. The system has been put into hibernation each night for a few days in a row; it was put into hibernation (with Firefox open) after the 24Apr2009 upgrade to '3.0.9+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.1'. After the blank error window problem occurred and this bug was raised, Firefox was fully uninstalled then re-installed. The re-installation failed - attempting to run Firefox opened a blank (error console ?) window: the only option was to close the blank window; Firefox didn't start. Restarting the system at this point fixed Firefox. Firefox now starts normally: 'Help > About Mozilla Firefox' reports "Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.0.9) Gecko/2009042113 Ubuntu/8.04 (hardy) Firefox/3.0.9".
