Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: firefox-3.0
Hello Community,
When I watch streaming video in either Ubuntu or Windows using full
screen it crashes my machine. It is also now crashing when I watch it
in a smaller screen. If I watch it in Explorer in Windows it crashes
the whole PC.
I have had this problem for some time, I thought initially it was a
driver problem, tried every driver available (open source and official)
to no avail. I have just bought and installed a new motherboard,
thinking that perhaps the driver conflict was something impossible to
resolve so to get a motherboard with onboard sound and video to reduce
the likelyhood of problems.
However, no joy :o(
1 ) Ubuntu version: 8.04 Hardy Heron with all packages up to date
2 ) Firefox version: 3.0.3+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.1
3 ) I expected (no, I desperately hoped) I could watch streaming video in full screen
4 ) It is still crashing after a few minutes of play :'o(
I'm sorry I have not attached this to another existing bug, but I
couldn't see an identical bug report and thought I could give more
information this way.
The debug attachment I have put here is for a crash when on 'small'
screen (i.e. not fullscreen) as during a full screen crash I am forced
to reboot as I cannot get back to the desktop so lose all debug info.
Please let me know if more information is needed!
Many thanks for reading.
