[Bug 274672] [NEW] Thunderbird does not respond anymore, permanent "wait" symbol

Public bug reported:

When Thunderbird starts up and I select the Inbox, the mouse pointer
changes to the "processing" wheel and stays that way. Pushing the
"reply" button or the "write" button has no effect. In fact most other
buttons don't seem to respond. I can still see existing emails in the
Inbox by clicking on them.
