Same problem here on Heron 8.04 with compiz-fusion on GNOME with emerald
window decorator.  Every time I open firefox it has this problem.  I'm
not sure if its directly related, but I think this problem appeared when
I downloaded the latest compiz update through the update manager.  Using
GTK-Window-Decorator doesn't fix it, nor does switching to metacity.
Switching to fullscreen and then back fixes it.  If a link within the
"broken" firefox opens a new firefox window, the new window has window
decoration.  As a side note, when the window decoration is gone from
firefox, it is on top of the gnome-panel, which I keep minimized, as
well as on top of "Keep Above" screenlets.  Avant Window Navigator is
still on top of firefox, though.
