Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: firefox-3.0
1) Ubuntu 8.04.1
2) 3.0.1+build1+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.04.3 -- same in FF2 on Ubuntu 7.04,
7.10 and Windows XP btw
3) Submitting a quicksearch from the adress bar (using bookmark-based
smart keywords) containing an umlaut (e.g. search term "Bäcker") to any
pre-defined destination and having the exact same search term show up on
the results page.
4) Having any umlaut in the query string messed up somewhere in the
process (e.g. "bäcker"), leading to meaningless results.
Personal note: Submitting queries from the adress bar is one of the most
powerful features of FF, I use it all the time and it saves me a lot of
silly clicking. The lack of umlaut support is causing me--and probably
all others who need it--pain on an hourly basis and I would be very
thankful if you/the mozilla guys could fix it! It can't be that hard to
fix since umlauts work in the quicksearch bar (which I never use) and in
the Ubiquity extension (which is only a workaround to this issue).
