Happening here too. 
Version: 3.0.3+nobinonly-0ubuntu2
Depends: firefox-3.0, firefox-3.0-branding

uname -a
Linux magnus-laptop 2.6.27-7-generic #1 SMP Tue Nov 4 19:33:20 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux

Viewing the file in firefox locally does not crash firefox.
I got a backtrace, but somehow debugging symbols seems to be missing (they are installed).
Nothing in the logs, incl Xorg.0.log.
