I think there's a flaw in your instructions, I had to specify the full
path to libflashplayer.so otherwise I got the error:

*** NSPlugin Viewer  *** ERROR: ./libflashplayer.so: cannot open shared
object file: No such file or directory

unless I started Firefox from the same directory as libflashplayer.so
and even then I had problems.
