Nov 2008 - bug still present Ubuntu 8.04

Key search terms: x-java-vm firefox ubuntu gcj web browser plugin

Symptoms: go to http://nist.time.gov/timezone.cgi?Mountain/d/-7/java (NIST time using java)
Error Message: plugin not available
Go to install 1st plugin GCJ web browser plugin and it reports that it is already installed
about:plugins indicates it is not present

Problem: missing soft link in /usr/lib/xulrunner-addons/plugins/

Solution: create a soft link as root user

root at ubuntu:/usr/lib/xulrunner-addons/plugins# ln -s
/usr/lib/classpath/libgcjwebplugin.so libgcjwebplugin.so
