[Bug 292671] [NEW] VMWare Tools doesn't work

I have VMWare Tools installed on Ubuntu 8.10 client.  It was installed
correctly and was working when I upgraded from Hardy to 8.10.  I see
that it is still installed and it reports no errors but it doesn't work.
