moved the translation part to bug 292625 as this is used to track the
Ubuntu Website issue. Will adjust description/summary accordingly.
** Changed in: firefox-3.0 (Ubuntu)
Status: Confirmed => Invalid
** Summary changed:
- Locale es-AR appears instead of es-ES in Firefox, and Firefox start page uses Google UK instead of use google.com
+ start page uses Google UK instead of use google.com
** Description changed:
- Hi everybody, I'm Spanish and my English is not very well, but I'll try
- to explain my self as well I can. I'm sending this message because I
- think there is a mistake in Spanish locale configuration. This only
- happens with Firefox. I'm running Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron. Okay, here I
- go. In the first case, when you open firefox, this page appears:
- http://start.ubuntu.com/8.04/ , so it's appears with the language of
- your Ubuntu , but, If you make a search, you will not use google.com ,
- instead, you will use google.co.uk . I think this is not good, because
- if you live in Spain, an you search for something, you will obtain
- results in English, but if the search box use google.com instead, google
- will detect your language and you will be redirected to google.es, so
- the engine will show you results in Spanish, and what is better, results
- for Spain (or wherever you live). I don't reallly think this is a bug,
- because I think this page is made by Canonnical.
-
- The second bug I think I found is in the firefox configuration. What's
- going on with the locale configuration? In the installation, I selected
- Spain as the region, and Firefox is set as es-AR instead. This affects
- to the search box in the top, to the plugins, and to the locate web page
- find. For example, if I acces to the hp web page, it show me the
- Argentina's page. This bug (and the other one) affects to Xubuntu
- alternate and Destop, and to Ubuntu alternate and Desktop: I don't know
- if others version have this problem. Thank you for pay attention to me.
- Good bye.
