There is a temp fix for this: edit gconf key
/desktop/gnome/background/primary_color to a 6 digit instead of a 12
digit.  There is also a patch that will perm fix this mentioned here:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=421977  the devs need to
include this patch into firefox and all would be well
