Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: xulrunner-1.9
I'm running ubuntu 8.04.
When I ran apt-get update and apt-get dist-upgrade, this happened:
The following packages will be REMOVED:
epiphany-browser epiphany-gecko firefox firefox-3.0 firefox-3.0-gnome-support firefox-gnome-support gnome-user-guide
ubuntu-desktop ubuntu-docs yelp
The following packages will be upgraded:
evince gnome-applets gnome-applets-data libeel2-2 libeel2-data libgnomeui-0 libgnomeui-common libnautilus-extension1
libnspr4-0d libnss3-1d nautilus nautilus-data xserver-xorg-video-intel xulrunner-1.9 xulrunner-1.9-gnome-support
When I tried to re-install firefox and yelp and others to see what happened, I got this:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
firefox-3.0: Depends: xulrunner-1.9 (>= 1.9~b5~) but it is not going to be installed
Depends: xulrunner-1.9 (< 1.9~b6~) but it is not going to be installed
firefox-3.0-gnome-support: Depends: xulrunner-1.9-gnome-support (>= 1.9~b4~) but it is not going to be installed
yelp: Depends: xulrunner-1.9 but it is not going to be installed
xulrunner is at:
$ dpkg --list xulrunner-1.9
Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold
Name Version Description
+++-========================-========================-================================================================
ii xulrunner-1.9 1.9~rc1+nobinonly-0ubunt XUL + XPCOM application runner
It doesn't make sense that gnome-user-support and yelp and firefox-3.0
are now not a part of the distribution. I did add this line to
/etc/apt/sources.list to install acroread:
deb http://packages.medibuntu.org/ hardy free non-free
but other than that I haven't changed the repository sources.
How can I get firefox, yelp, and the other packages back?
